A diary of guitar music improvisation and sound demos a mixture of Mark Knopfler, Joni Mitchell, Allan Holdsworth, David Starobin, Michael Landau, Wayne Krantz
If you,ve just landed here.... then welcome to this diary of noodles (Manipulation Of Negative Space) There is a great deal of improvisation to be found here which is mainly for fun and not always so musical or correct. Some tracks are very old and recorded on cassette but have a certain "zing" or concept. 90 percent of all the noises you hear here are produced from guitars. A big thanks to all the people who leave comments and write to me... its really nice to know some folk actually like this stuff... And yes for those that ask I do plan on releasing some proper music soon. Cheers, TZ.

Story behind the song
This track was written and recorded when I was 17 years old. It was recorded on two Revox tape machines with a Quad amp and Grampian Spring Reverb. Its a long track that never repeats and was uploaded at a bit rate of 128kbps. (not good) I play the Guitar, Bass, Percusion and Clarinet (I can,t play clarinet but was running out of guitar sounds!!!) My brother played Drums and engineered. There are many different guitar sounds. I used Eko 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, a Gibson SG (my baby !) a CSL SG doubleneck and a Bass of no name!!! The only guitar Effects were all ColourSound pedals a Wah Fuzz Swell, and a Wah Wah. Many tricks were used. Vari-speed on tape echo, double speed guitar for changing the envelope on a wah part, a contact mic through a wah wah on the body of the SG (Mic wah & DI) One of the acoustics was tuned down a 5th and played very hard with a penny (the big old english ones!) Where this music comes from I don,t know it just came out. At the time I wasn,t really into guitar but it was the instrument I played best. If I was to record it again I would go for the same sounds and parts. The drums were the biggest problem because we couldn,t get any volume through the headphones so there are time problems. (plus we were kids!!!) Remember this was pre click tracks or tuners etc. We didn,t even have a mixer, I did one acoustic from start to finish and we built on that........................... So PLEASE LISTEN WITH AN OPEN MIND!..... Thanks TZ.

Very creative family ! This document shows the fabulous work and energy you got (and not lost) ;) Interesting because we can see the numerous influences of this blessed times. We too hear your melodic style coming soon ... English artists still made a lot to do progressive rock growing. Grabbed on CDBB's station . Congrats:)

This is a cool piece of music. At least better than many other stuff I've heard in the charts around here. For sure you are a talented melody freak, I dig this. The mood changes are enjoyable, and the melodies resemble some 70's progressive bands like Pink Floyd and Camel to me. Nice Nice Nice. Take a look at my page as well dude. I hope you'll like my music as well. I'm gonna listen to the rest of your stuff now.

this is tricked out out with so much 60's/70's nostalgia that i was taken right back - i loved it! right thru the experimental stuff. i think the engineering worked - i like the 60's quality and 70's clarity. sounds like many different songs - yet somehow you pull together this sampler of guitar sounds and melodies as one trip! 5 starts from me. i enjoyed the entire song and was into it form note one. peace---jd
