Hollywood, California, the dream location of any aspiring star; bright lights flashing cameras. Who could ever resist the fortune and fame of being a superstar. The idea of stardom that has been embedded in our brains since early childhood has become reality and everything you ever wanted is at your disposal. The big house that has so many rooms that they can never be occupied all at once. The chef and the maid who treat you like a king while in your presence and bow out with an open hand before they leave it. The financial adviser who has no greater interest than you and you're well being, for if you do well, so does he and the business he's running. The women flocking at your company like sheep to a shepherd makes sleeping in the wilderness a lot easier when sleeping in the cold with no one to keep you warm. That is until they die off, like sheep do, stolen by the shepherd in the next field, or eaten by the wolf that looked familiar. The curse, of having everything you ever wanted and forgetting that before you made it, you didn't need a chef and a maid, because she was there. The financial adviser after you money wasn't there before you money because you were broke and couldn't keep your lights on, yet alone support this man's business....but she was there. When all the sheep are gone and you freeze sleeping at night because there's no one to keep you warm in the wilderness, you'll think about you're bed at home and pray that she is still there...by herself because at the end of the day everything you want isn't everything you need.
King Nebuchadnezzar II spent 7 years in the wilderness insane. What does that mean? If insanity is doing something over and over expecting a different result maybe he was smoking an unlimited supply of marijuana and waking up every morning expecting to feel like he was ready to be King again. Maybe he was sleeping with a different woman every night expecting that he would find someone who would give a genuine sh** about his well being and help him through the mistakes he had made in his past. Maybe he was simply wasting all his time doing nothing. Maybe he thought that if he sat down next to a tree long enough his glories of being a King would just one day return to him...being lazy feels good sometimes, but if that's what you want, understand its not what you need. Smoking marijuana helps ease the mind, liquor helps numb the pain but if that's all you want, understand that's not what you need. Women are the most beautiful creatures in the world, but having sex with all the women in the world can't make you the man that you need to be in order to take the thrown from a man raised by his father. Sex is a great, necessary, activity vital to existence of man, but understand if sex is all you want, its not what you need. You need love and affection, you need someone who's going to hold you down when you give up, and pick you up when everyone else puts you down. You need a home to lay your head and a family to confide in. Someone to cook for you in love, and expect nothing but love in return. Someone to iron your tie for you as you rush to get in the shower because the two of you were up in the middle of the night talking about life and you woke up late for work. Does Hollywood provide this service for you? Is all the fortune and fame worth the freedom of love? Will we ever learn? It took God 7 days to build everything we needed, and it took Nebuchadnezzar 7 years to understand we don't need everything we want. Are we not gods? Or are we Nebuchadnezzars?
